My struggle with fibromyalgia

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 15 years ago and it was then that I started learning tai chi. I also learned several forms of qi gong. During my daily qi gong practice, I noticed that after the warm-up exercises, I was feeling less pain along with a warm glow spreading inside me; when I had a lot of pain, I simply did the warm-up exercises. One day I felt an electric jolt streaming from one side of the body to the other. The master said “good, you feel qi”. That was the beginning of exploring the healing power of qi on my body. I also tried many other things to cope with the pain—changed my diet, got massages, did positive thinking, etc.

In the summer of 2013, I went to Ottawa to study Master Lai’s Five Element Palm Qi Gong. I was hoping to advance my knowledge, expand my own practice and enrich my teaching and of course, somehow find a way out of the chains of pain. After an energy treatment from Master Lai, I was surprisingly able to stand up straight and I was able to straighten my body which I couldn’t do for over a year!

I went home with a promise to do one hour of meditation everyday while connecting with Master Lai’s energy at the agreed upon time. I felt the presence of his energy as I sat in meditation. Over time, I slowly gained more energy upon waking up and my legs became stronger. Mostly, I noticed the absence of my constant companion—PAIN! This hour of meditation dramatically changed the course of my painful condition after such a long struggle. The fibromyalgia is never as painful as it used to be. It does not wake me up at night. I am also slowly climbing up the stairs. I have come a long, long way from the summer of 2012 and I continue to evolve. I look forward to the day that pain is only a distant dream...
